Paul Dudenhefer

Paul Dudenhefer

"I had the pleasure of working with Paul for over fifteen years when he was the managing editor of History of Political Economy, a flagship scholarly journal. His consistency--much appreciated in this business--and the high quality of his editorial, writing, and project management skills set him apart. He is a consummate professional." —Rob Dilworth, Journals Director, Duke University Press

"Paul Dudenhefer has done more than anyone to improve my writing. Paul has a thorough knowledge of how nonnative scientists think and write in a variety of fields ranging from economics to history. This enables him to propose revisions that are true to my original meaning and to suggest stylistic changes that make my articles more appealing." --Beatrice Cherrier, University of Caen

I have been a professional writer and editor for over twenty-five years, and I am currently the managing editor of Politics & Society, a quarterly academic journal published by Sage. A good portion of my career was spent at Duke University, where I taught writing to economics students and copyedited and proofread History of Political Economy, a Duke University Press publication. I also wrote feature stories for the website of the Center for the History of Political Economy and for Gist from the Mill, Duke University’s social science research magazine. Current and past clients include the European Central Bank, the University of Chicago Press, the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, the Journal of Human Resources, and IREX, a major nonprofit in Washington, D.C.

Most of my work has been in economics. I have a deep familiarity with the conventions of academic economics articles and have written two guides to writing in the discipline, most recently, a guide for PhD students titled Writing the Field Paper and Job Market Paper. I have extensive experience working with writers whose native language is not English.

Let's get to know each other. Drop me a line. I may be the writer and editor you're looking for.
